چکیده

The objective of the study was to describe clinical, imaging, surgical and histological findings in a dog with Rathke's cleft cyst pituitary gland. A 6-year-old, female, neutered Staffordshire bull terrier presented an acute onset abnormal behaviour. Magnetic resonance imaging skull showed mass 12.9 mm (height) × 8.8 (width) 10.2 (length) height/brain area value 0.73 (reference <0.31). were suggestive apoplexy or neoplasia. Transsphenoidal hypophysectomy performed cystic removed. Histopathology revealed lined by layer pseudo-stratified ciliated columnar epithelial cells mucin-secreting goblet remnant tissue positive immunostaining against adrenocorticotropic hormone, alpha melanocyte growth hormone periphery. should be included differential diagnosis masses dog, transsphenoidal is effective treatment.

Third ventricle herniation into the sphenoid sinus following endoscopic transnasal transsphenoidal fenestration of Rathkes cleft cyst.

Rathke cleft cyst (RCC) is an uncommon albeit benign sellar lesion with an incidence rate of between 2 to 33%. RCCs are usually asymptomatic except in the large cases whit suprasellar extension. We herein describe a unique case of RCC, which presented with severe visual loss owing to massive herniation of the optic chiasm and third ventricle down into the sphenoid sinus through a small 8 x 8 mm...

Acromegaly and transsphenoidal hypophysectomy: a case report.

Anterior pituitary tumors account for nearly 18% of all intracranial tumors. Pituitary adenomas that cause hypersecretion of growth hormone lead to acromegaly in adults. Patients with acromegaly may present unique problems for the anesthetist because of the overgrowth of airway soft tissues; a difficult mask ventilation and challenging intubation can be expected. A careful preoperative assessme...

Endoscopic Transsphenoidal Resection of a Medial Temporal Arachnoid Cyst in a Patient with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

Abstract Introduction: Arachnoid cysts are developmental cystic lesions which may be found as an incidental finding on neuroimaging or present with symptoms of headache, seizure and neurologic deficit. Presentation with seizure is more common with larger sizes and temporal location. Presentation with TLE is rare, and fenestration of cysts had variable results for seizure control. Here in, we r...

The pituitary mass after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy.

To understand the natural changes in the CT appearance of a pituitary mass after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy of a pituitary tumor, we obtained CT follow-up studies in 12 patients with pituitary adenoma. The heights of the pituitary masses on the coronal sections of each CT study were measured. It was found that the height of the pituitary mass did not return to normal immediately after the o...
